OHIOAN MARK PAWUK LOOKING FOR NORWALK FLEXJET FACTORY STOCK SHOWDOWN WIN

June 24, 2025

NORWALK, OHIO (June 24, 2025) – Mark Pawuk and the Empaco Dodge Challenger are riding high into the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals following their first win of the season at historic Thunder Valley Dragway two weeks ago. The reigning Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown Series world champion has high hopes for this weekend’s race. The Ohioan is racing to secure his first win as Summit Motorsports Park, a track that is near and dear to his personal and professional heart.

“I never got to race professionally at Summit Motorsports Park. We were racing at Columbus when I got out of the seat of the Pro Stock car, but I grew up going there. When I raced there in the 70s, Summit Motorsports Park was the place to go,” Pawuk said. “My dad and I were close with Bill Bader and the Bader family, who own the facility.”

Pawuk, who is a second-generation racer and former NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Pro Stock driver, started his own race team ahead of the 2023 season. Pawuk Family Racing captured their first Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown world championship last season. Driving the Empaco Equipment Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, Pawuk most recently won the Super Grip Thunder Valley Nationals and is leading the points. He is looking forward to extending his points lead with four races remaining in the season.

“I’d love nothing more than to get a victory there in front of friends and family,” said Pawuk. “There are so many great Ohio fans and also all our local sponsors Empaco, Ohio Cat, Ray Barton Racing, Mr. Heater/Heatstar, Diamond Pistons, Summit Racing Equipment, Red Line Oil, VP Racing Fuels and Dodge. This class is really coming alive this season and you have seen new winners and great competition.”

In Bristol, Pawuk had to wait through multiple rain delays before he took on Jim Betz, a relative newcomer to the class in the final round. It was set up as a classic Dodge versus Ford match-up which Pawuk won when Betz jumped off the starting line too early. This season six different drivers have raced to a final round and all three manufacturers have had a shot at winning a Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown national event.

This weekend fellow Ohio resident David Davies II will be looking to add his name to the list of winners. Davies, a long-time sportsman racer, has raced at Summit Motorsports Park in a variety of classes but made his Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown debut in 2021. Racing his Mission 22 backed Dodge Challenger for David H Davies Racing (DHDR) he also races with teammate Josh Hart and AJ Berge.

“I love racing in Norwalk at Summit Motorsports Park. I bet I have made 1,000 passes down the track,” said Davies. “In 2021 I took possession of my Dodge Challenger Drag Pak and brought it straight to the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals. That was a little nuts, but I wanted to get right into the action. I love this track, and I am looking forward to a busy and hopefully successful weekend.”

There have been three different winners this season and two different manufacturers have enjoyed time in the winner’s circle.

Pawuk took Dodge to the winner’s circle in Bristol after Jason Dietsch and Jonathan Allegrucci had powered their Ford Mustang Cobra Jets wins at the Gatornationals (Dietsch), Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 Nationals (Dietsch) and the Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals (Allegrucci).

Pawuk seized the points lead with his Bristol victory and sits atop the standings with 341 points. Two-time national event winner Dietsch sits second with 300 points followed by Lee Hartman (284), Jonathan Allegrucci (277) and David Janac (256) rounding out the top five.

The Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown competitors will have three qualifying runs allowing each team to get data and fine-tune their race cars. Friday, June 27 will feature qualifying runs at 12:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. and on Saturday, teams will run at 11:15 a.m. with the first round of Summit Racing Equipment Nationals eliminations kicking off Saturday at 2:05 p.m. Eliminations will continue with three more rounds on Saturday and Sunday. Fans can catch all the action live from Summit Motorsports Park in person or on NHRA.tv. They can also tune into the FS1 broadcast following the conclusion of the race on Sunday.
