Step 1: Concepting – A Vision of Luxury

Creating a Flexjet-exclusive interior begins with a singular vision and theme. Our design team collaborates with industry experts, interior designers and aviation specialists to establish a cohesive concept that aligns with contemporary trends or client expectations.

The LXi Cabin Collection is home to over 50 custom interior designs – and growing. A remarkable private aviation precedent, each interior has its own story and style and is designed to transport private jet travelers well beyond their destination. Since 2015, in-house artisans have collaborated with aircraft manufacturers to create one-of-a-kind fold-down ottomans, pop-up kibitzer seating, custom divans and credenzas and dedicated lounges and staterooms with equal parts utility and elegance.

The concepting phase is marked by brainstorming sessions, mood boards and inspiration from various fields including architecture, yachting, automotive, high-end fashion and of course, art. This stage aims to cement and define the emotional experience that the cabin will evoke. Will it be a serene oasis for relaxation? A vibrant space for collaboration and productivity? The concept must resonate on multiple levels, affirming every detail caters to the diverse needs of Flexjet’s clientele.

Step 2: Design – Curating the Aesthetics

Once the concept has taken shape, the design phase begins. This stage involves selecting materials, colors, textures and finishes and configuring layouts that align with the envisioned experience. Flexjet’s designers meticulously choose premium materials, from plush leathers to silken carpets and exquisite wood veneers, every piece looks stunning and feels luxurious to the touch.

3D modeling software allows the team to visualize the space in detail, making it easier to adjust layouts and aesthetics before the physical work begins. This phase often includes consultations with clients to incorporate their personal preferences and requirements to confirm each cabin reflects the individual’s style while preserving the integrity of the overall design.

More importantly, before any material is confirmed for inclusion into the interior, they must rigorously adhere to all FAA flammability and impact tolerances as well as fall within carefully applied weight ratios.

Private jet cabins must be ultra-durable and sturdy, yet lightweight to withstand their service life. Using lightweight materials for tables, walls and cabinetry usually requires them to be constructed from hollow honeycomb or deluxe composite hardware that is solid but light enough for flight requirements.

Hard surfaces such as stone countertops must also fit this mold. This threshold helps decrease the overall weight of the aircraft, which in turn reduces fuel consumption and results in substantial cost abetment.

Step 3: Refurbishment – A Labor of Love

Once the design is finalized, the refurbishment process commences. This is where the magic happens; the craftsmanship is put to the test. Skilled artisans and technicians work together to transform the aircraft interiors according to the approved plans.

This phase involves intricate tasks like foam cutting, quilting, leather fitting, carpentry and even installation of approved stone countertops.

This is the most labor-intensive aspect of the process and requires many highly skilled technicians to complete each cabin. Normally, the leather cutting required for a Gulfstream G650 interior alone could take a few weeks, but with Flexjet’s expansive Global Services team, the timeline has accelerated to just a few hours.

Attention to detail is paramount during this stage. Every seam, curve and installation must adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety. The collaboration between designers and technicians is essential to ensure that the final product reflects the initial vision while meeting aviation regulations. When all elements are finally incorporated into the selected cabin, final touches for badging and branding occur.

Step 4: Quality Assurance & Testing – Elevating Excellence

Before the newly refurbished cabin is deemed complete, it undergoes a meticulous quality assurance process. Every element is inspected for perfection — from functionality to aesthetics. Flexjet is committed to exceeding industry standards, each cabin is certified to not only meet the expectations of clients but also the stringent safety protocols mandated by aviation authorities.

This phase often includes test flights to evaluate the cabin in real-world conditions, allowing the design team to see how everything performs in practice

Step 5: Release – Testament Taking Flight

At last, the cabin is complete and ready to offer an unparalleled flying experience. When clients step aboard, they are met with an atmosphere of luxury and sophistication that goes beyond mere aesthetics; it’s about comfort, functionality and personal touch. Client feedback is continuously welcomed, as it is valuable for continuous improvement and refinement of the collection. Flexjet delivers both an aircraft and a lifestyle, encapsulated in a beautifully designed space where every journey can be transformed into a memorable experience.
