NEW GLOBAL HQ IN OHIO HERALDS A NEW ERA FOR FLEXJET

October 3, 2023

Flexjet’s European division was established in 2019 and our infrastructure has since grown considerably to include our sales and experience centre Flexjet House in London’s Mayfair; our Tactical Control Centre at Farnborough Airport; an Operational Centre in Malta; and our group maintenance facilities in Milan.

Our growth here is backed by the deep experience and financial stability of our U.S. operation, where Flexjet is a long-established, global powerhouse of private aviation. Firmly rooted in the innovative industry hotbed of Northeast Ohio for decades, we recently unveiled our new global headquarters at Cuyahoga County Airport (KCGF), east of downtown Cleveland.

To officially kick off this exciting new era, Flexjet rolled out the red carpet for an HQ grand opening event that hosted over a thousand employee friends and families and featured an exclusive, fleet-wide private jet showcase, cutting-edge facility tours, hospitality and live music.

PRIVATE AVIATION’S MOST ADVANCED PRIVATE JET CONTROL CENTRE

The new Global Operations Control Centre serves as the building’s core and has the private aviation industry’s most advanced technology, including the largest seamless LED screen in the U.S. and third largest in the world – 54 metres wide by 5.8 metres high, with 1,572 individual LED panels.

The screen displays all Flexjet private jets around the world in-flight and in real-time, creating a visually immersive experience. Designed to accommodate planned growth, the centre can handle the staff and technology required to manage twice our current global fleet of nearly 270 aircraft.

On the exterior, the glass-enclosed structure is positioned to give employees a front-row seat for the aircraft comings and goings on the airport ramp. The building was designed with both visual impact and environmental efficiency in mind. This includes dramatic sharp angles and triple-paned, treated glass that minimises the sound of the aircraft, creates privacy and controls the temperature inside.

Stadium-style seating, arranged by operational sub-team functions, maximises the flow and speed of information – particularly during issues such as major weather systems. In addition, the central bridge has a pop-up command station that is used during peak travel times, when high volume flying requires heightened coordination.

Construction included an enclosed connector to Flexjet’s previous headquarters building on the same site, where renovations are underway. Combined, this campus-like setting frames the entire Northwest portion of the Cuyahoga County Airport grounds.

The 4,780m2 Global Headquarters and Operations Control Center will increase the campus size to a total of 22,575m2 with office space for 670 employees. Globally, Flexjet employs approximately 4,000 aviation professionals, including more than 1,100 pilots.

CELEBRATING THE EMPLOYEES OF FLEXJET PRIVATE JETS

The grand opening event took place over two days and included a comprehensive schedule of both ceremony and celebration which helped to officially open the doors of this impressive facility to the world.

This included a special reception for media and dignitaries, an all-hands dedication and commencement speech by Chairman Kenn Ricci and the leadership team – capped off with a special evening event attended by over 1,300 Flexjet employees, friends and family.

On this memorable evening, the full Flexjet focus was turned to celebrating all employees, across the company and across the world. The party took place in a decked-out, celebratory hangar, with facility tours, refreshments, a live band and an aircraft of every type from the Flexjet fleet on exhibit to experience at close hand.

In Europe our Flexjet fleet includes the Praetor 600, Gulfstream G650 and the Sikorsky S-76 super-midsize helicopter. These are also available in our U.S. fleet alongside the Embraer Phenom 300, Praetor 500, Bombardier Challenger 350/3500; and Gulfstream G450.

The scale of this grand opening was a demonstration of Flexjet’s decades of dedication and discipline within an ever-evolving industry.

“From the simplicity of where we started 25 years ago, to the advancements in technology and where we are today, this new Global Operations Centre is truly a marvel that defines a new future in aviation,” said Chairman Kenn Ricci. “None of this would be possible without the dedication of our employees. This new operations centre is a demonstration of our relentless progress and vision.”
