A PRIVATE GETAWAY IN DUBAI
Dubai promises a dizzying and glamorous array of amenities for the luxury traveller, from immaculate beaches, to golf courses and award-winning restaurants and spas. Shopping opportunities range from designer malls to traditional souks.

When it comes to hotels, there is a wide – and growing – choice of five-star properties. For an opulent private hideway yet with all amenities on hand, the Malakiya Villas within the Madinat Jumeirah were relaunched earlier this year.

These seven contemporary private villas each boast a private pool and lush gardens and are accessed by traditional wooden abra boats. Buggies are on call to help navigate the resort and its renowned restaurants, while a private butler for each villa assists guests with any requests, such as private yoga in the garden.

A PURE ESCAPE IN OMAN
Known as the pearl of Arabia, Oman offers a compelling combination of natural beauty, history and atmosphere.

In the ancient capital Muscat there are discoveries around every corner, including traditional Islamic architecture and atmospheric markets tucked into tightly woven streets. Oman’s natural treasures are plentiful too, with the Ras al-Jinz Nature Reserve home to nesting turtles; wide deserts and other-worldly mountains including the pinnacle Jebel Shams; and the stunning Gulf of Oman, which offers a wide range of water sports and beachlife.

CARIBBEAN CHIC IN ST BARTS
The history of St Barts is as varied as its name, with the Caribbean island (variously known as Saint-Barthélemy, St Barth or St Barths) changing hands between nations over the centuries. In 1946 however it settled as a French overseas territory and has been attracting elite travellers ever since. The island retains a timeless and exclusive glamour, with postcard-perfect beaches and mountain coves unhindered by major development.

Hotels and properties are characterful and appealing, including the Caribbean outpost of the Cheval Blanc hotel group. Flanking the island’s prettiest beach the Baie des Flamands, Cheval Blanc St-Barth is the only Caribbean hotel with palace status, which is reflected in its meticulous service. A choice of rooms, suites and villas each offer Jacques Grange interiors, and there’s a Guerlain Spa and two restaurants, with menus courtesy of talented French chef, Jean Imbert.

The island’s small-but-perfectly-formed Gustav III Airport (TFFJ) is famously scenic and the runway can only be accessed by small propellor aircraft.
