SUPER-MIDSIZE SHOWDOWN: PRAETOR 600 VS. CITATION LONGITUDE
April 30, 2025
Getting in on the ground floor for any investment, trend or development can often have powerful advantages. As private jet travel becomes more popular and accessible every day, so does the demand for premium jets with proven pedigrees. By accurately forecasting this surge in cabin-class popularity, Flexjet has proven the ability to fundamentally understand the modern market and predict the unprecedented upswing for aircraft that can indeed do it all.
As the longest-standing fractional operator of the entire Embraer Praetor series, Flexjet owns hundreds of thousands of hours of operational data and insight that affirm a long-standing commitment to this inspired platform. But how do they stack up to the competition?
In the past 10 years, the Embraer Praetor 600 and the Cessna Citation Longitude have separated themselves as models that exemplify the sophistication and super-midsize capability private flyers now covet. Both jets offer many features, however, which provides the best performance and overall polish? We step aside and let you decide.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE AND RANGE
When comparing both the Praetor 600 and Citation Longitude on paper, they appear to be remarkably similar. However, only one offers an extended range and uncommon comfort that can transform your yearly travel agenda.
When it comes to intercontinental travel, the Praetor 600 impressively expands the range of possibilities even further with best-in-class reach achieved by way of larger, beautifully sculpted winglets, additional fuel capacity and highly efficient Honeywell® engines.
Along with a remarkable endurance rating of over seven-and-a-half hours, the Praetor 600 is capable of cruising at an exceptional 466 knots over great distances. Effortlessly journey non-stop to destinations like London, New York, São Paulo, Miami, and Dubai. Our super-midsize jets are uniquely crafted to excel on the iconic London to New York route, offering you sophistication and comfort with every flight.
However, the Citation Longitude is also built for versatile performance and not without its merit, featuring a maximum range of around 3,500 nautical miles and cruise speeds reaching 475 knots, which slightly limits the destinations available from New York, for instance. While this jet excels in providing rapid connectivity across medium-haul distances, it may not always fulfill the needs of those who frequently undertake long-haul journeys. Flexjet members opting for the Praetor 600 can maximize efficiency with its 618 nautical mile difference in range while leveraging their time as their most valuable asset.
CABIN COMFORT AND TECHNOLOGY
In private aviation, exceptional cabin comfort is non-negotiable, and both jets shine with unique offerings here. The Praetor 600 at Flexjet features an aesthetically stunning double-club interior format that features room for an ingenious divan that easily helps accommodate up to nine passengers. With ample atmosphere, a handy wet galley for meals, remarkable six-foot headroom and a 6′ 10″ cabin width means the interior becomes airy and inviting, promoting comfort and spacious tranquility during flight.
When combined with Flexjet’s LXi Cabin Collection™, the differences become distinct. The Praetor 600 seamlessly merges aesthetic appeal with functional technological touches—like fly-by-wire controls, plus Flexjet is beginning Starlink connectivity installation on all P600’s that should see the entire Praetor fleet upgraded by 2027. Paired with a top-tier cabin management system and a truly thoughtful cabin design, we have successfully curated one of the smoothest, quietest and most productive in-flight environments available.
Conversely, the Citation Longitude provides a generous cabin with a height of around 6 feet, creating a comfortable environment for passengers. However, its cabin does not offer a wet galley and measures five inches narrower than the Praetor 600–additional elbow room that never goes unnoticed. The Citation Longitude offers some similar technological features, including a modern cabin management system and safety systems, but with only standard Wi-Fi at commonly increased costs.
Finally, the Praetor series also offers 155 cubic feet of additional and accessible baggage room for travelers. That’s 43 cubic feet more than the Longitude—allowing you to bring an extra set of golf clubs or even skis while keeping all your luggage comfortably in-reach during the flight.
THE FLEXJET FLEET ADVANTAGE
For those who value spacious efficiency, exceptional performance and an environment designed for luxury and productivity, the Embraer Praetor 600 is the quintessential choice. While the Cessna Citation Longitude offers quality, it falls short compared to Flexjet’s investments in crafting the ultimate flying experience.
Whether you are a frequent business traveler or an occasional adventurer, the Praetor 600 embodies the future of versatile private air travel, be it across the country or the pond and even further afield into the Middle East.
